On a drive across America, I was struck by a simple truth: there are billboards everywhere, and not a single one of them had The Face on it.
Mile after mile of towering advertisements shout into the sky. Injury lawyers. Used-car salesmen. Breastaurants. Modern art. Religious proclamations. Political messages. Literally everything in between. And, naturally, the Bay Area AI companies.
This collection imagines The Face joining that great roadside chorus, occupying the same enormous visual territory as everything else demanding our attention. It is spectacle, consumer culture, absurdity, and advertising at forty feet tall.
If you are going to shout into the void, you might as well rent the billboard.
