This page is the culmination of months of on-and-off attempts to execute a deceptively simple idea: create The Face as vector SVG files and animate them as the user scrolls. Simple, right? Not quite.
ChatGPT and Claude both took turns modifying the HTML and JavaScript, while two different Pens from CodePen were adapted and tested. Even when the mechanics began to work, one problem remained: what made the idea worth looking at? So it went onto the shelf and gathered digital dust.
Then, while tinkering in Illustrator, I discovered the Scribble tool. Suddenly The Face could be filled with single flowing lines, and the dormant code had a reason to live again. What appears here is not just animation but a progression of the creative process itself, from first attempt to finished form.
And doesn’t it remind you just a little of those Create-a-Card machines from the 1990s?
