ABOUT THIS GALLERY

LISAFRANK

Lisa Frank, Inc. began in 1979, but its gloriously saturated world became especially inescapable in the late 1980s and 1990s, when school supplies seemed perfectly comfortable containing every color at once.

This gallery takes that spirit and gives it to The Face. Neon rainbows, impossible gradients, glowing animals, stars, hearts, sparkles, and colors that appear to have been turned several clicks past maximum all crowd together with complete confidence. Subtlety has been excused for the day.

The images were made with Recraft, whose ability to take a specific image and reinterpret it in a specific visual style made this collection particularly exciting. The Face can remain The Face while being pushed into an entirely different visual language, which opens a rather enormous door.

There is some shared DNA here with FRAISURBANE and Glass Cathedral. All three commit completely to their surfaces, though they arrive at excess from very different directions. FRAISURBANE wants you to think it has excellent taste. Glass Cathedral wants transcendence.

This one wants a Trapper Keeper.
