ABOUT THIS GALLERY

ILLUMINATED

This one began while I was browsing a museum catalog and stumbled upon an illuminated manuscript from the medieval era. My first thought was immediate: “I bet that would look good with The Face on it.”

Historia Vultus in Arte, Cibo, Re Publica, et Historia mille verbis narratur.

Do you speak Latin? No? Well then, through more than a thousand words, this manuscript tells the history of The Face across art, food, politics, and history. Its hand-drawn-looking borders are an exquisite example of the fine labor performed by digital monks in a digital monastery.

It is medieval ornament through a modern lens, an illuminated Face for a digital age.
